Paul Pogba hailed Romelu Lukaku as the ‘best striker in the Premier League’ after Manchester United’s summer signing ended his goal drought in the 4-1 victory over Newcastle.
Having not scored in seven consecutive games for the Red Devils, Lukaku, who cost United an initial £75million in the summer, netted the final goal in the emphatic win at Old Trafford.
Dwight Gayle had given the visitors a surprise lead but goals from Anthony Martial, Chris Smalling, Pogba and Lukaku completed the impressive turnaround as United maintained their second-place position in the top-flight.
Lukaku’s recent performances had attracted criticism from some but Pogba said the United dressing room was never concerned with the 24-year-old as he is the best in the league.

‘I come back and Romelu scores again? I like that,’ Pogba said. ‘We’ve got a lot of good players, a lot of talented players. We have to trust each other.

‘Romelu is the best striker in the Premier League. We know his quality. We know everything. We don’t worry about him. And at the end, we see the result.’
Speaking to BBC Sport, Pogba also insisted United are capable of catching rivals Manchester City to win the Premier League title.
