Brazil international Willian admits he is frustrated by his lack of game time at Chelsea but respects any decision made by Blues boss Antonio Conte.
Willian joined the west London outfit in 2013 and starred during Jose Mourinho’s final season at Stamford Bridge, before falling down the pecking order under new manager Conte.
The winger has started just six Premier League games this season, with his last start coming in the EFL Cup win over Everton in October, and has been repeatedly linked with a move to Manchester United.
Mourinho was in talks with Willian last summer but the Brazilian decided to stay at Chelsea. However, reports claim United will revive their interest in the 29-year-old during the January transfer window.
Speaking to Football Focus, Willian openly admitted his desire to feature more regularly for the reigning champions but said he respected Conte’s decisions.
‘Of course I want to play every game, but I respect every decision because we have great players in the squad, so you have to respect Conte’s decision,’ he said. ‘But every player wants to play.’
Despite being in contact with the Red Devils over the summer, Willian says he was ‘not close’ to following in Nemanja Matic’s footsteps by leaving Chelsea to join Mourinho’s side.
