5. Real Madrid to choose between David de Gea and Thibaut Courtois
Real Madrid reportedly intend to bring either David de Gea or Thibaut Courtois to the Bernabeu next summer once their transfer ban expires.
Los Blancos are long-term admirers of both goalkeepers and saw a move for Manchester United stopper De Gea break down late in the summer 2015 transfer window.
Chelsea’s Courtois has also made no secret of the fact that he intends to one day return to the Spanish capital, having described it as ‘being like home’ following a stint with Real’s city rivals Atletico Madrid.
According to The Sun, Madrid have prioritised signing a replacement for Keylor Navas prior to next season and both De Gea and Courtois would be open to joining the club.
4. Raul: ‘‘Always disappointing when Barca reach final’’
The Real Madrid legend lamented Real Madrid’s absence from the Copa del Rey final, adding it is always disappointing when bitter rivals Barcelona reach the decider.
“Whenever you get knocked out of a competition – like what has happened to Real Madrid in the Copa del Rey, it’s always a disappointment and even more so when your biggest rivals reach the final,” Raul told Fox Sports Mexico.
“But we are entering a vital stage of the season with La Liga and the Champions League.
“That’s not to say that the Copa isn’t important, but winning either of the other two competitions has more significance, and it changes the way a team’s season is viewed – it adds extra value.”
3. Everton boss Ronald Koeman quashes Barcelona speculation
Everton manager Ronald Koeman has dismissed speculation linking him with a move to Barcelona.
The Dutchman’s former representative Guido Albers has claimed that the ex-Barca player and coach has been earmarked as a potential successor to Luis Enrique at Camp Nou.
However, Koeman has told reporters ahead of Everton’s Premier League visit to Middlesbrough that there is no substance to Albers’s remarks.
“He is not my manager anymore,” he said.
“[There is] nothing, nothing, nothing. I will always be related to Barcelona – it happened in the past and it will happen in the future.”
Barca are yet to confirm whether Enrique will be offered a new deal this summer when his contract expires.
2. Juan Mata speaks out about David De Gea leaving Manchester United for Real Madrid
Real Madrid have reportedly renewed their interest in De Gea.
De Gea came close to joining the Real in 2015, but a deal collapsed in the final minutes.
Marca claim Perez could now make a £55million move for the Manchester United goalkeeper at the end of the season.
De Gea has insisted he is happy at Old Trafford, and Mata says the goalkeeper appears relaxed at United.
“David is a veteran here already, been here many years,” Mata told Spanish radio station Cadena SER.
“He is relaxed here, and with too much to think about for the rest of the season, without thinking about the summer.”
