Boca Juniors are reportedly keen on signing Manchester United’s second-choice goalkeeper Sergio Romero.
The Argentina international has made just five appearances for the Red Devils this season due to David de Gea standing in his way.
The 29-year-old joined United from Sampdoria in 2015, but has struggled to force his way into the number one role.
Boca Juniors hope to lure Romero to back to his homeland with the promise of game time, but United are not expected to entertain a deal until the summer.
The Romero deal will have to wait until the close-season as he is the only senior back-up ‘keeper available to Jose Mourinho.
The Red Devils have already allowed their third goalkeeper Sam Johnstone to leave Old Trafford, as has signed for Aston Villa on loan for the remainder of the season.
Romero began his career in Argentina with Racing Club, before moving to Dutch side AZ Alkmaar in 2007 when Louis van Gaal was in charge.
Romero has since gone on to have successful spells at Sampdoria and Monaco, but his lack of playing time at Old Trafford could put his place in the national side under threat.
