Jose Mourinho and Luke Shaw have a notoriously difficult relationship, but they appeared to be best of friends after the left-back was taken off during Manchester United’s 1-0 win over Bournemouth.
Shaw was named in the starting line-up for the game at Old Trafford to receive his first Premier League minutes of the season.
He rewarded his boss with a fine performance that contributed to a clean-sheet and three points for the Red Devils.
The former Southampton player was taken off with a few minutes remaining on the clock and was given a standing ovation by the homes fans at the Theatre of Dreams.
Mourinho also showed his appreciation for a job well done by embracing Shaw as he came off and putting an arm around his shoulder.

Shaw will now keep his fingers crossed he can keep his place in the Manchester United side, although Mourinho gave no guarantees after the game.
‘I am not saying he is first or second choice, Luke Shaw is an option,’ said the Manchester United manager. ‘People forget his history, a hard history with an incredible injury and more surgery last season.
‘I liked the standing ovation he got, it only helps the player.’
