Carl Frampton made a victorious return to Belfast and the ring after earning a points victory over Horacio Garcia at the SSE Arena.
But, it was a hard-fought win as Frampton’s Mexican opponent pushed the pace late on and took the Belfast-native all the way.
Frampton was made take a knee in the seventh by the referee, despite it looking like he had merely lost his balance.

The three judges returned 98-93, 97-93 and 96-93 scorecards as Frampton celebrated a winning comeback after ten months out of action.
‘It was a good fight for the fans. I boxed well for the first few rounds but then got myself caught up in a fight,’ said Frampton.

‘I wanted a hard fight for my comeback and that’s what I got.

‘The rust is off, the cobwebs are gone and now I want to fight one of the big guys.’
Frampton is now 24-1 and back to winning ways after losing his world title in March to WBA (Super) featherweight champion Leo Santa Cruz.

It was the first time Frampton was fighting since splitting with trainer Shane McGuigan and Cyclone Promotions.
It was also Frampton’s debut on BT Sport, but he could not add to his 14 knockouts.

Frampton and his new promoter Frank Warren are now targeting a potential world title showdown at Windsor Park in the summer.
