5. Chelsea to monitor Red Star Belgrade striker Richmond Boakye
Chelsea have reportedly decided to start scouting Red Star Belgrade striker Richmond Boakye, who has previously spent time at Juventus.
The 24-year-old has already had seven clubs but the Ghanaian has finally started to make his mark in Serbia.
Boakye scored 11 goals during the second half of the last campaign; while one of his four efforts this season have come in the Europa League.
According to the Daily Mail, Chelsea will take a look at Boakye when he lines up for Red Star in their European clash with Arsenal next week.
During his time with Juve, Blues head coach Antonio Conte opted against promoting the striker into his first team. But Boakye’s standout performances have seemingly put him back on the Italian’s radar.
Boakye has also had spells with the likes of Elche, Atalanta BC and Roda JC.
4. Chelsea to send Musonda out on loan
Chelsea will look to send Charly Musonda out on loan in the January transfer window to build up his first-team experience, according to the Evening Standard.
Musonda criticised the club regarding his lack of first-team opportunities this season. But Chelsea see a future for him at Stamford Bridge and want him to get games under his belt as talks continue over a new contract.
3. Chelsea join Arsenal in race to sign Man United ace
Chelsea are battling with Arsenal to sign Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson on a free transfer next summer.
The 20-year-old is out of contract next summer and talks over a new deal at Old Trafford have stalled.
Henderson is currently on loan at Shrewsbury and, though he’s highly thought of at the Theatre of Dreams, his path into the first-team is blocked by David De Gea and Sergio Romero.
Arsenal have registered their interest in Henderson but Chelsea have also now joined the race for his signature, according to the Mirror.
Henderson was part of England’s U20s squad at the World Cup last year and has an offer on the table to stay with Jose Mourinho’s side.
However, Arsenal or Chelsea could provide him with a better chance of breaking into the first-team squad.
The likes of West Brom, Southampton and Watford are also thought to be keen. United would be due a compensation fee should Henderson leave the club on a free transfer.
2. Alvaro Morata ruled out of Chelsea’s Crystal Palace trip
Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has confirmed that striker Alvaro Morata has been ruled out of tomorrow’s trip to Crystal Palace.
The 24-year-old has scored six goals in seven league games so far this season. But picked up a hamstring injury in the 1-0 home loss to Manchester City just before the international break.
Conte has confirmed that the Spaniard will miss the trip to Selhurst Park, along with Danny Drinkwater and N’Golo Kante.
“As you know very well, we have three injured players,” Conte told reporters at his pre-match presser this afternoon. “[With] Morata, I hope to have him back very soon – I hope for the next game against Roma.”
“Drinkwater is progressing well but is not ready yet. We must have patience with him and his calf problem.”
“Then the last is Kante. We are going to do a scan next week to check his situation. He is improving but for sure he has a hamstring problem. This is a big loss for us.”
1. Antonio Conte denies Chelsea exit claims
Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has denied reports that suggested he is looking to leave the club in the near future.
Last month the Italian was reported to have told a radio station that he considers to return to his homeland. The Italian, who is said to have a homesick, has recently said that he is not keen to stay abroad for too long.
“I did an interview two weeks ago and the translation was wrong,” Conte told reporters today. “All I said was that one day in the future I would like to go back to Italy.”
