- Thierry Henry believes Iwobi will still be a great player at Arsenal considering his potentials
- The Frenchman has advised Arsene Wenger to give the Nigerian more playing time
- There are rumours that the London club is already making moves to bring-in Dimitri Payet
Former France international and Arsenal Legend Thierry Henry has stated that Nigeria’s Alex Iwobi has huge potentials for Arsenal and the club do not need to bring-in West Ham’s Dmitri Payet.
The embattled Payet went on rampage recently with the Hammers in a bid to force his way out of the club to join French side Marseille.
There are rumours that Arsenal coach Arsene Wenger is already making moves to lure the West Ham talisman to the Emirates stadium, but the manager has denied the claims.
“I don’t think Arsenal need a player like Payet at the moment,” Henry told Sky Sports.
“They have Iwobi who could be like Payet in few years time, he has been good for Arsenal playing through the middle.
“Iwobi needs games to fulfill his potentials and signing a player like Payet could limit his playing time, and it could spell doom for his development.”
Iwobi joined Arsenal while still at primary school, and was first involved in a first-team match as an unused substitute in a League Cup match against West Bromwich Albionon September 25, 2013.
He signed a new long-term contract with Arsenal in October 2015.
