A lot can happen in 18 months, but for WWE star Paige, her entire world has changed over the past year and a half.
An injury which threatened to end her entire career was combined with a series of personal disasters, including leaked photos and videos, plus a seemingly toxic relationship with former WWE star Alberto Del Rio.
Two WWE suspensions for drug test failures also hung over her head, but against all odds, the Norwich born wrestler has finally returned to WWE television.
Paige returned to a huge ovation on Raw last night, cupping her ear to the crowd as she made her entrance.
‘Did you miss me?’ she asked. ‘I just had something to say. And that is, I’m back!’
After briefly talking, Paige introduced her new acolytes, Sonya Deville and Mandy Rose, who destroyed the majority of the Raw women’s roster, including Sasha Banks, Bayley and champion Alexa Bliss.
Paige stood tall with her new teammates after the destruction, and it’s still unclear which side they will be on after beating up both heels and babyfaces.
This was Paige’s first appearance in WWE since June 27th 2016, and she has certainly made an impact straight away.
Expect more attention on Paige throughout the next year as the release of feature film Fighting With My Family comes closer.
Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson is executive producing the film, inspired by Channel 4’s 2012 documentary on Paige and her family. The Rock stumbled across the documentary while filming Fast & Furious 6 in London.
The Office co-creator Stephen Merchant wrote and directed the film, which stars Lena Headey, Nick Frost, Florence Pugh and Vince Vaughn.
