Arsene Wenger has acknowledged that Arsenal have suffered in away games this season due to being punished for every mistake made.
The Gunners claimed a 5-2 victory over Everton at Goodison Park on Sunday which marks only their first away league win of the campaign.
“We should have been 2-0 or 3-0 up, but we were 1-0 down. We didn’t panic and maintained our focus. Once we equalized, it was all us for the rest of the game,” the Frenchman told reporters.
“I was [concerned] because recently we’ve been punished for every mistake we make away from home. But I knew there was a long time to go. Our away performances this season have not been rewarded.”
4. Striker confirms he will leave Arsenal this season
Joel Campbell will leave Arsenal at the end of the season, according to a report from The Metro this weekend.
After joining Arsenal as a teenager and hoping to get a place in the first team, Campbell was loaned out several times to clubs across Europe.
The Costa Rican was loaned to Lorient, Betis, Olympiacos, and Villareal. However, he had limited chances to try and impress Arsene Wenger at The Emirates.
The 25-year-old has finally decided to quit Arsenal at the end of the season when his contract expires.
The striker wants to make his loan move at La Liga club, Real Betis a permanent move.
Campbell joined Arsenal in 2011 but had only had one full season where he enjoyed consistent playing time.
“I will try to give my best this season. In the end, the club is happy with what I do and they want to bet on me,” Campbell said.
3. Arsenal board urged to clarify Arsene Wenger future
The Arsenal Supporters’ Trust (AST) have urged the club’s board to clarify Arsene Wenger’s future well before his current contract expires in 2019.
Calls for the long-serving Frenchman to step down from his role at the Emirates have steadily grown in recent seasons.
However, Wenger signed a new two-year deal after winning FA Cup glory at the end of the 2016-17 campaign.
A survey of the AST has revealed that 92% believe that the board did not handle the situation as well as it could have been dealt with; while 90% are unhappy with Stan Kroenke’s running of the club.
The survey also revealed that 90% believe that the board should make a firm decision and announce Wenger’s future ahead of time in order to avoid a similar situation to last term.
Two-thirds of those surveyed also wanted a director of football in place, which Wenger has previously opposed.
2. Marco Reus monitored by Arsenal and Manchester United
Manchester United and Arsenal are monitoring Marco Reus’s recovery from injury as they remain interested in the Borussia Dortmund star, Sport Bild claims.
The 28-year-old has not featured for Dortmund this season and will not return until 2018.
The Germany international has long been linked with a move to the Premier League; while Arsenal and United will keep an eye on him.
The forward is contracted to the Bundesliga side until June 2019.
1. Chelsea to sign pre-contract deal with Arsenal midfielder in January
Chelsea are considered among the favorites to seal a pre-contract agreement with Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere in January.
The England international who is thought to be one of the brightest talents in his generation.
Wilshere is out of contract in the summer and Chelsea are thought to be interested in his service.
Chelsea need more numbers in midfield this season, due to injuries likes of N’Golo Kante and Danny Drinkwater.
