BEST TACTICIANS: 8 Winners of FIFA World Coach of the Year award since 2010

BEST TACTICIANS: 8 Winners of FIFA World Coach of the Year award since 2010

FIFA awards gala was held in London on Monday night to celebrate footballers and fans. Cristiano Ronaldo received the Male Best player of the year for the second consecutive year. Olivier Giroud won Puskas award for his great goal against Crystal Palace last season. Zidane was named Coach of the Year.
Today, we focus on tacticians who have lifted Coach of the year award since 2010.

8. Jose Mourinho- 2010

In 2010, Jose Mourinho guided Inter Milan to a historic treble. They lifted the Champions League, Serie A, and Italian Cup. There is no doubt he deserved to be named FIFA Coach of the Year that year. He then moved on to Real Madrid and lifted La Liga and Copa del Rey in three years he was there.
The ‘Special One’ then moved back to Chelsea and helped them lift the League title and League Cup before they sacked him in 2016. He joined Manchester United and lifted Europa League, League Cup, and FA Community Shield.

7. Pep Guardiola- 2011

Pep Guardiola guided Barcelona for four years and the club enjoyed a lot of success. 2011 will remain a special year for the Spaniard in many respects. The Catalan giants lifted La Liga and Champions League trophies in the year. They also won FIFA Club World Cup and Uefa Super Cup.
The success was enough for FIFA to award the Spaniard Coach of the Year in 2011. He later left the club to join Bayern Munich where he won domestic trophies but failed in Europe. He is now trying his luck at Manchester City. He won nothing in his first year.

6. Vicente del Bosque- 2012

Spain football fans will never forget Vicente Del Bosque for obvious reasons. The Spaniard helped his country win two European trophies and 2010 World Cup. In 2012, FIFA decided to award him Coach of the year award. He thrashed Italy 4-1 to lift consecutive European crowns. He fully deserved the award.

5. Jupp Heynckes- 2013

Bayern Munich decided to bring back Jupp Heynckes last month after a poor run of results under Carlo Ancelotti. The 72-year-old Coach guided the Bavarians to a historic treble. They defeated fellow Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund 2-1 at Wembley. FIFA decided to award him Coach of the year award and he fully deserved it.

4. Joachim Low- 2014

Brazil will never forget 2014 and the memories are not good at all. It is the year Germany thrashed the Samba Boys 7-2 at the iconic Maracana Stadium. The Europeans went on to win the World Cup. Joachim Low was awarded Coach of the Year award in the following year and he fully deserved it. In 2018, they will have to defend their title in Russia.

3. Luis Enrique- 2015

Luis Enrique short stint at Barcelona produced different results. He was loved and criticized in equal measure by Camp Nou faithful. However, in 2015, he guided the Catalan giants to a historic treble. He lifted Copa de Rey, La Liga and Champions League. They defeated Juventus 4-2 in the final. He managed to achieve what Pep Guardiola could not during his reign. In 2015, FIFA recognized his achievement at awarded him Coach of the year gong.

2. Claudio Ranieri- 2016

In 2016, the entire World watched as little known Leicester City trounced the giants to win Premier League trophy. The team had survived relegation in 2015 which makes their achievement even more shocking. The man who guided them is Claudio Ranieri. It was only fair that FIFA to award him Coach of the year award in 2016.

1. Zinedine Zidane- 2017

Zinedine Zidane has been named 2017 FIFA Coach of the Year. The Frenchman guided Real Madrid in 2016/17 and they lifted La Liga and Champions League double. The achievement was even more momentous because they were the first team to defend the European Cup since it was renamed. He was, therefore, a clear favorite. He defeated Juventus Coach Allegri and Chelsea tactician Antonio Conte.
