It is well known that beer is inseparable from working-class people, footballers who don’t take alcohol are from a different world – Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo is one of them despite being the richest football player in the world. Ronaldo, you are not alone – here’s a list of notable footballers who don’t drink alcohol for a variety of reasons.

8. Franck Ribery

Franck Ribery has reverted to Islam in 2006 after marrying a Muslim woman of Moroccan origin and he once told his Bayern Munch teammates to keep the alcohol – which is forbidden by his religion – away from him when they were celebrating Bundesliga title.
In addition, The French Muslim football player Franck Ribery has opened an alcohol-free bar that would serve fruit juices in his home town of Boulogne-sur-Mer, with the aims of encouraging the French people to abandon alcohol drinking by offering alternative alcohol-free atmosphere.

7. Gareth Bale

This Welsh professional footballer plays for the Wales national team and Real Madrid. When asked if he has chosen to be teetotal for health and fitness reasons, He said:
”I just don’t like drink, to be honest. It’s not the fact that I choose not to drink alcohol. I just don’t like the taste of it. I’ve obviously tasted it, but I just don’t like it so it doesn’t do anything for me to be honest. In a way, it probably helps me though.”

The French star, who played for Liverpool among others, is well know for his two leg breaks, breaking his left leg in 2004 and his right leg in 2006. He scored 24 goals in his 79 appearances for Liverpool between 2004 and 2007.

The Former Manchester United star Fletcher, who plays and captains West Bromwich Albion and the Scotland national team, is another lucky footballer to part the company with the beer.

“He has his diet — he doesn’t eat just anything. He never drinks even a drop of alcohol. He doesn’t stay up late for any reason.” Javier’s grandfather Tomas Balcazar, who also played for Mexico, said.

“If I need to relax, I take my dogs out for a walk or I play a round of golf. I can’t remember the last time I  went to a club. Obviously, everyone is different but I love just settling down and having a barbecue with friends at my house.” He said.
Asked if he enjoys beer on holiday, Kane replied: “Not me, I’m probably not allowed. I’ll just stick to Coke.”
